Hay guys after some advise I have a Kona operator and want to replace the hubs with hope pro 2 evo's now my problem is I don't know weather to buy a complete set of new wheels and then sell the old set or just get new hubs and use the old rims?? I don't know what my old wheels would be worth they are sun mtx 33 white on formula disc hubs 20mm front and 150mm x12mm rear they are in very good condition all straight and true!?
What do you guys thinks??
Cheers

New wheels. Unbilding and rebuilding is rarely worth it just o keep some OE rims."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Ok well I was gonna strip the old wheels down so the rims could be re used on the new build it would save me about £80 would it be as simple as just un doing the nipples one by one untill it's stripped??0

If I was to go for new wheels how many spokes should I go for 32 or 36?? I ride DH freeride and jumps so strength is the main thing the other reason is I can get sun mtx 33 rims with 36 holes half price!!!0

Depending on the spacing you might need new spokes as well.
Why do you want to replace the wheels, if they are in good condition?I don't do smileys.

Main reason is bling lol and I have the hope hubs any way so be nice to use them as they are a better hub!0

That's different - in your first post you said get new hubs.
I'd talk to a decent wheel builder and get them built up with decent rims.I don't do smileys.

Very expensive way of doing things for virtually zero gain.0

Aye, very rarely makes any financial sense to dismantle a wheel that's in decent nick...Uncompromising extremist0

A wheel truing stand can cost almost nothing, if you're canny enough to make it yourself. Or you can use a bike frame, I reckon most people on this forum will have one of those...
Skills and patience... er, well, "for everything else there's Mastercard".0
