Need a new wheel - but which one?

Hi all,
I recently had the front wheel of my Cannondale Ultra stolen and I am unsure which wheel I can replace it with.
All parts are stock and on the rear I have a 'WH-S501' wheel which I believe is 28" and has the gears actually built in.
I presume I need a 'WH-S501' but the front type for the front wheel? Is it essential I stick to 28"?
Also, do most wheels come with brake disc as standard or will I need to attach this? Is this easy?
Kind regards,

So what fork do you have?0

The rear is a 700c wheel - Shimano with an Alfine hub. So you will need a disc ready road wheel. Presumably a chunky hybrid type. I would talk to a Cannondale dealer.
To answer your specific questions, yes, no, yes, yes.I don't do smileys.

Many thanks for replies
Just looked at my fork and the only writing I can find on it is 'System SI integrated', I can get some pics if needed.
I like the sound of putting something a little more chunkier on then then the back (back has a 'marathon runner tyre on currently with the 'wh-s501' wheel).
So are you saying if I were to purchase a 700c wheel (I presume this is the thickness rather then the actual size?) and ensure it is in 28" form which allows for a brake disc - I should be ok?
Kind regards,

a 700c is 28/29 size. depending who you talk to.
700c is rim diameter only. Hubs can be disc or not. they also come in many versions to fit certain forks. If you do not know the fitting or can not identfy the fork post pics of it."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Many thanks for reply,
Just took a picture, if not clear enough please tell me which exact bit is required and I'll re-photo.
Will take a better photo
So, 700c is 28", I presume the thickness is decided by the tyre size rather then then actual hub?
Any help much appreciated,

Guys just looked at rear rubber tyre bit and here are some details:
35 - 622
28 x 1.35 - 700
So just to confirm, I am looking to buy a new wheel/tyre and brake disc that is compatible with my bike in its current state. Ideally something a little chunkier then what I have on the rear just to give me a bit better traction. I had a few slips on the stock wheel (whatever that was).

622mm is the common 700 size. 35mm is the tyre width. A good wheel would be a 17mm inside width, 622mm (or 29er in MTB terms) or 700c road type.0

Many thanks
Could you look at this please: (hope I am allowed to post ebay links?)

Do you think that would work? There are a lot of front 700c wheels available but not many that support disc braking.
If that is not suitable, could you please (I know this is cheeky) point one out on ebay that would work?

Looks fine to me!0

Thanks for that, your suggestion looks great but my rear wheel is in quite good condition and it is the type with the gears actually built into the wheel so just the front will be fine.
Do you think the mention of 'Q/R axle' will allow me to use a quick release skewer?0 -
Yes, should come with the QR skewer really, is certainly pictured there.0
