Lon Las Cymru - anyone who's cycled it, Advice please!
Hi Guys, me and my friend are going to cycle this route in may hopefully. That is sustrans route 8, holyhead to cardiff. We both live in stoke so we were thinking of getting a train to cardiff and instead of finishing at holyhead, split off from the route to finish at conwy and then get the train back or get a lift from there.
My Question is: Would it be better to cycle it south to north or Vice versa so that it's easier.
We want to do it over 3 days so it's gonna be tough enough without the hills, so we want the route where it's going to be more downhill than up. We're pretty experienced bikers and generally do a 50 miler (part off road) every sunday and we also did the C2C in 2011. Is 3 days achievable for the Lon Las Cymru?
Thanks.

I am also looking to do this ride sometime this year. I will probably do it South to North although that is not certain yet. I am hoping to take about four days. I had a book for Christmas http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lon-Las-Cymru-Official-National/dp/1907025219/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1325854727&sr=1-3 which details the route but goes from North to South, which is one reason I might change.
Starting at Chepstow (or Cardiff) and heading North does mean that you can use the South Westerly prevailing winds, which means you get a tailwind (yeah, like that's ever going to happen). I am planning to stop in B & B's along the way in Llandrindod Wells, Machynlleth and Porthmadog. The first stop is at a friends' guest house. This will give legs of about 75, 50, 50 and 65. About 240 miles in total. Thats bound to change as I refine the route further.
I am still in the early stages of planning the route (NCN 8 mostly), stops and time of year. I ride a road bike so all of my route will be on road.
Enjoy the ride. I certainly plan to. By all accounts it is hard, scenic and lonely, but well worth doing.
