Hi,

Looking for a MTB for mainly pootling round Epping Forest and maybe a few weekend events here and there. No scary downhill, recovering from broken shoulder from a miscalculation on a hill on my road bike so gone off them a bit!

Wondering if anyone cycled round Epping regularly and what they are riding, been looking at the Canyon Full Sussers (120mm) and new 29er hardtail although wouldn't mid a Lapierre Zesty if I can find a budget somewhere.

I know a bit of a general question but any thoughts much appreciated.

Cheers

Im in a similar position to your self,
after recieving advice on here and else where the bike that keeps getting recommended and also the bike I have settled on is the Cube LTD pro.

Bearing in mind Im no expert and MTB is pretty new to me ( havent rode off road for 10 years )
  • I see the 2012 Cube Lt Pro's come as 26's or 29er's, did you go for one of these?

I ride Epping quite a bit and have both 26" and 29ers.
29ers are fast and flowy but the 26" is better for throwing around and in the real tight stuff.
I have used both at epping and i prefer my 29er, but it is just personal preference. those Cubes are bargain bikes and i would recomend them to friends if they were looking.

PS www.essexhertsmtb.co.uk for a few guided tours
