Hi all. My beloved aluminium racing bike was just stolen. It was pretty lightweight and was a joy to both commute to work in, and go for long rides in the countryside. I bought the bikes ages ago secondhand and have no idea how to begin replacing it.

So, I'd definitely appreciate any suggestions on where to begin. I can't spend a fortune (i.e. nothing over £1000 - and ideally not even close to that figure), but would like a replacement that isn't low-quality and won't fall to bits if I go on long trips.

Any thoughts on good bikes I could get to replace it would be highly appreciated. Many thanks.

that's a shame, i know how it feels too!

keep an eye on http://bikeshd.co.uk/ for the next few days, it might show up there

do you know what size bike you need? that'll help you narrow down choices when looking at the secondhand ads

  • Thanks. I think I would need 54cm or something thereabouts. Any other tips on a good bike to get would definitely be appreciated!
