Hi all. My beloved aluminium racing bike was just stolen. It was pretty lightweight and was a joy to both commute to work in, and go for long rides in the countryside. I bought the bikes ages ago secondhand and have no idea how to begin replacing it.
So, I'd definitely appreciate any suggestions on where to begin. I can't spend a fortune (i.e. nothing over £1000 - and ideally not even close to that figure), but would like a replacement that isn't low-quality and won't fall to bits if I go on long trips.
Any thoughts on good bikes I could get to replace it would be highly appreciated. Many thanks.

keep an eye on http://bikeshd.co.uk/ for the next few days, it might show up there
do you know what size bike you need? that'll help you narrow down choices when looking at the secondhand adsmy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
Thanks. I think I would need 54cm or something thereabouts. Any other tips on a good bike to get would definitely be appreciated!0
