The weekend see's my proper move to Cardiff, no coming back etc etc, so what are your recommendations of things/places/pubs/restaurants etc, contarary to popular belief, I dont just work stalk and masturbate listening to the archers (and sob)
I'll try most things once, par example I read that a kebab house on City Roads was closed down temporarily due to ecoli so this has spaned my new game for January, kebab house russian roulette.
But seeing as theres a plethora of you on here, I fear it would be churlish of me not to tap into the resource of your knowledge.
Cheers ears

reasonably close to you is city road - home of kebab houses, pizza places and bars.
1. Rocket joes pizza - square pizzas and buy one get one free, cheap and good
2. good noodle bar (tenkaychi i think it's called)
3. good bar opposite there called milgis (must mean something in welsh but i have no idea what)
4. the george pub, pretty good
5.. on albany road just around the corner you have the pear tree and claude pubs - both pretty good
6. on wellfield road - the juno lounge - good food and nice and chilled.
should keep you going0 -
Cheers kev, thats next week sorted I like city road, Mrs G's sister lived just off it but she knew naff all places. The Juno lounge sounds good, and I love Ellen Page (surprise surprise, in fact theres very few women on the no thanks list)
ooh one for the crudcalendar, World naked bike ride, cardiff. Not to join in, dont want to see all your lot's junk, but can certainly turn up with limes and string and do a spot of seagulling0 -
in fact, northern monkey lives just down the road from you now, go and see him0
-
and I'm just up the road so will have plenty of riding options.. as long as you're not a complete twunt
The bay (Mermaid Quay) is great in the summer with loads of pubs/bars etc all in a very small area.
Riding wise, you have Caerphilly mountain and the surrounding Rudry area (north Cardiff) which is mostly natural and great for a exploration session. Cwmcarn 20 mins away and Afan about 45.
Enjoy and see you in the car park..Cube Hanzz Pro FRSquarepants wrote:It's not that I'm over over biked, my bike is under personed...0 -
Places to eat:
Demiro's in Cardiff bay - they do nice Welsh food.
Tiger, Tiger, Greyfriars Road - nice and cheap for a lunch-time meal.
Spice Merchant (one in Park Place, on in Cardiff Bay), excellent Indian food.
Yangs, on Penarth Road, pretty good Chinese food (according to the Chinese).
Oh, and I work Cathays Park...0 -
What's Welsh food? Cheese on Toast?0

I'm on Australia Road, just up past the barracks in "The Colonies"0
-
I used to live on Canada Road when I was a student. It's one over from Australia Road.
You will be in a great location for Whitchurch Road and Crwys Road, both of which have some great eateries. 'Chai Street' is good for an Indian lunch, and for a good, relaxed continental brekkie try 'Cocorico'. It's owned and run by a French guy who makes all his own cakes and pastries.
For your biking needs there is 'Cyclopaedia' on Crwys Road. They don't suffer fools gladly in there but Ian (Sticky) and Stuart, the owners are sound guys, very knowledgable and sell good kit.“Life has been unfaithful
And it all promised so so much”

This all sounds soooooo good, I'm gonna get such a fat fark again0

Don't worry. They won't feed you in Cyclopaedia, but you may get a cuppa if you hang around for long enough.“Life has been unfaithful
