Budget fork upgrade

Morning all,

I have a second bike with shockingly bad forks (Suntour XCR's 100mm travel, 9mm QR), or at least I don't get on with them. They seize up easily, and flex massively in all directions particularly under breaking, to the point that it scares me! The forks need to go.

The bike is a GT Aggressor XC2, 2008ish I think. As it's a second bike I want to keep new forks on as tight a budget as possible, but at the same time i'd rather spend a little more if it offers a great improvement.

I've found new RS Recon Silver TK's online for £100.
Marzocchi 44 RLO £180
RS Recon Gold Solo-Air for £190
RS Reba RL Dual Air for £230

How would these compare to the Suntours and to each other; a big improvement with extra cash? How do people find the Recons? I know Rebas are good, I have some and love them, but they are more than double the cost of the Recon Silvers. Is it worth spending the extra cash? Any others I should look at? I don't have much experience of forks - just the Suntours and my Reba's on my other bike!

The type of riding I tend to do on this bike is local trails, very much casual XC without anything too challenging. However this is down to the bike, it would be nice if I could feel more trusting of the forks and take the bike on some bigger rides.

Recon Silver are coil the Reba's air..so will be more adjustable, lighter and have better damping.

The 44 RLO is a good fork but for air rediculously heavy....I would have the Reba

If the world was flat, I wouldn't be riding !
