Just swapping my bars over and i now have the newer under tape cable routing.
I understand that i can route campag cables through bars but thee shimano cables look like the gear cables wont as dont line up with holes and will be too kinked and possibly affect movement
Anyone routed both gear and brake cables through some of these?

Yes but with SRAM. I had no issues.

Also should the bars be rotated so the top part of bar is flat ?( Horizontal)
I guess so but then I would need to move shifters/hoods further up the bar bend past the grippy section , does this matter ?

    Routing does work
Holes needed cleaning up , it looked like cables would have to come more from round the side but after cleaning up holes they were angled after all.
I do think i will have to slide hoods up higher than grippy part of bars tho , or turn the bars so the flat top part is not horizontal
Which should i go for do you think?

I have these bars on my bike - with Shimano 105 kit.
I don't think the flat top section will sit horizontal with the bars in a "normal" position - it will slope downwards towards you. Well, that's certainly the way mine do. I have the flat section on the drops pretty much horizontal, with the end of the bars perpendicular to the ground.
Strangely, I have never felt totally comfortable using the tops for this very reason. It always feels like my wrists are being forced downwards. I have tried rotating the bars like you imply, but it just looks and feels wrong in other areas.
I spend most of the time on the hoods anyway and find the bars very comfortable - especially the way the bends on the tops are sculpted.

    Hope this helps,
    Gary.
Oh and I feel like I've been raped by an Orangutan  And I've got legs like Girders

Very well put that is probably how I should have explained it , as its exactly what I find .
