I've got a Treck 1.2 which is now a couple of years old and now needs the original tyres replaced. What are the best to go for? I can't afford or be bothered with different winter/summer tyres, etc and so I just want a good all-year tyre. I don't tend to go out in wet/icy conditions and my main requirement is speed. Also I only want to spend about £30 or so per tyre. Ideas?

Continental GP4000S probably one of the best for all-round usage. I like Michelin PR3s but wouldn't recommend them for riding at this time of the year. Michelin Krylions also considered to be a decent all-rounder.0

I have got continental GP4000S 23mm on my summer bike and Michelin Krylions Carbon 25mm on my winter bike. I cannot compare them like for like as they are on different bikes, but both are great. I find the Krylions a bit grippier in the wet and would probably go for those if I had to stick with one tyre for the whole season. If you shop around you should get any of these for your budget.0

I've been impressed with Maxxis Detonators and Xeniths over the last year. Riding on HOT roads (this is Australia, and I ride at midday... I drink way too much to get up early) I have travelled 5600km on a rear detonator and 10500 on the front before replacement. With the Xenith, I got 7100km out of the rear, and 13200 out of the front. The second rear is up to 6200 km and looks good for quite a few more. I just wish I had bought more of them when they were on special at $10.00 each0

GP4000S are about the best mix of durability and grip that you'll find in the UK.
Plenty of deals on them too.0 -
Sorry for the hijack but would there be much difference in GP4000s at 23 and 25mm?
I use 25mm Gatorskins at the moment but was going for a racier tyre when the better weather appears.
I think/convince myself that the 25mms are more comfortable.

Possible alternatives include Michelin Krylion Carbon, Schwalbe Durano S, Vittoria Rubino Pro III.Aspire not to have more, but to be more.0 -
tried the new ultremo's , very good rollers, but not sure for this time of year, had a few puntures and their sidewalls seem susceptible to 'threading'www.ioptix.co.uk

Another vote for Michelin Krylions @ 95psi
I got two for under £45 delivered... a total PITA to get onto my rims though, but been puncture free for months :-)2013 Focus Izalco Pro 2.0 UDi2

I love the Ultremo R variants too to actually ride, but after several sets of them now, have decided no more. They simply don't last as well as I think they should. Cut very easily, sidewall bulges still occur in a few samples of them despite claims the problem was fixed in manufacturing...
They ride great, fast, supple and sticky in corners. Just too many problems, and that's using 23mm, 25mm, plain black and ones with colours. The plain black ones are best, but still easy to flat.
Am trying Vittoria Corsa EVO Cx, seem brilliant so far, if a little dearer.Open One+ BMC TE29 Seven 622SL On One Scandal Cervelo RS0
