Midlands xc youth pace

Having never raced before I'm entirely clueless as to the sort of speeds that I'm going to be faced with when I start. What is the sort of speed achieved by the youth category in the midlands xc series and approximately how long are the races?

A youth race will be 2 laps, so could be anywhere between 4 - 5 miles per lap, give or take.
I don't know about the Midlands series, but when looking at the youth times in the southern xc series they don't exactly hang around.0 -
I wouldn't be too worried if it's your first race. Go in there knowing that you won't be winning it, you'll probably finish near the back too, but don't worry about it, you'll soon get used to the pace of races and how you can perform best in them. Enjoy the racing and riding itself and you'll find you're more motivated to improve.
If you do well at first then you can be even more pleased.0 -
Hi,
Normally, Juvenile is 2 laps both M and F, Youth is 3 laps for both M and F.
See this for more detail http://midlandsxc.wordpress.com/info/
Just go and enjoy it, you will learn a lot in your early races.0
