We should have a monthly crud ride on the first or last sat or sun of the month.
Once we have an idea of the 12 to 24 trails (Some of you might wanna do two trails in a weekend) (if someone actually manages to attend 70% then hats off to them)) I'll add them to the calender.
Feel free to add trail suggestions then we'll choose which trails to put on the calender
Sherwood pines 4/3/12
Forest of Dean 01/04/12
Afan 06/05/12
Black Mountains 03/06/12
Timberland Trail(s)* 07/07/12
Cwmcarn 09/09/12
Quantock Hills
Coedy brenin(sp)
Climach
Swinley Forest
Ladybower loop
marin
Surrey Hills
Bedgebury
Dalby
Nant yr Arian
penmachno
Crudstock weekender?***
Cannock
Stainburn
Isle of Man**
*this might be later than the usual rides
**If CWNT has is 2 wheels in the right place by the summer we'll add it...
***Not sure if we want this in the summer or for xmas?

I'd say there should be a Ladybower loop in there. Not a trail centre, but damn good funIt takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

Stick in Nant yr Arian/Climach/marin/penmachno
Also is there still any interest in a Crudstock weekender?0 -
Add Swinley Forest too, but preferably have someone with local knowledge as non of the trails are signposted or graded.
Now I rue selling the Compulsion off, but.... I am (or was secretly) building a 456 Carbon.. so not out of the 'loop' just yet0 -
Dalby or stainburn?Santa Cruz 5010C
Deviate Guide
Specialized Sequoia Elite
Pivot Mach 429SL
Trek Madone 5.2 Di2
Salsa Mukluk Carbon
Specialized Turbo Levo Expert 29er0 -
i might be up for a few rides later in the year
gazlar, by crudstock are you reffering to a weekend of riding then alcohol fuelled male bonding sessions (face it foxc is busy that weekend)
if so i would be up for that0 -
I should also point out that im a middle aged trail puffer so im not embarrassed to ask for sherwood pines to be added to the list0
-
I do mean a booze soaked two days of bonhommerie, somewhere where you can have a bit of a laugh riding but pretty much everyone can join in.
Also how about a more social bike route (not trail centre) ride thats a bike pub crawl?0 -
i'll try my best but decent riding spots are all miles away from me unless you fancy a trip to the olympic track?0
-
It'd be good to have a bit more for us South Easterners - how about Bedgebury? Also Brechfa should be on if you're doing a few Welsh ones."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0

i like trips to wales. but bedgebury is fun, just a shame its so short.0

Thats what you said about my obvious0 -

Swinley is easy, just a few minutes ride for me.
Surrey Hills would be a good one for us southerners.
Bedgebury is a bit of fun but you'd probably fall asleep the second time around.I don't do smileys.

Is the isle of man big enough to have a trail or do you mean ride around the edge a few times? :roll:0 -

No offence CWNT but if you aren't healed in time, we'll be there with bikes, not wheelchairs. After all this is a CC thing and not a Steven Hawkins fan club meet..0 -

Agreed.
Would make a good crudstock though. I can guarantee most people will never have ridden here before. There is loads of riding to be had and it's all right on your doorstep. Plus it's just somewhere a bit different as most people will never have been here, especially on a bike (apart from Mule and Richie of course).
If I was better, I'd have suggested getting a CC team for the "longest day - longest ride" 24hr event in summer.
Or, a crudcatcher expedition to Ireland for the Epic Blast.
Sadly I'll be in no shape to do either of those this year.
Shame Bikeradar live is no more, that was a brill weekender.
I may try to get to one of these events lateish on in the year. Gives me something to look forward to.0 -
IoM has some decent bits in it to be fair. Not sure I would be able to direct anyone though, as when I was there I was just following the other 1000 people, or being told where to go by stewards and crowds.
It is a shame there's no more BR Live, was it just because of the location that was the problem? Can they not have 2 like the Leeds/Reading festival? It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

I could be wrong but I'm sure I'd heard it was just not financially viable and the big bike manufacturers wanted some exclusivity so therefore did not sign up.shame though, it was a good weekend with the cake, the bad bbq bacon, the glow stick wars and my mate asking Sam Pilgrim if he'd nicked that welsh lads bike0

Sounds like a plan, in theory I should get to a few of them. In practice I probably won't!0

That'd be a given anyway as I'm currently as fit as a large tub of lard.0 -
