A mate of mine is after a new bike, for bit of local xc, occasional trip to cannock , plus may be to the peak distict if I can drag him.
He's eyed up a Whyte 805 2012,
http://www.leisurelakesbikes.com/produc ... ?&id=17289
For £900
Not really heard of many folk with whyte's, so would appriciate any opinions, think he's after it on tick tock, leisure lakes will do him 0% finance so big disscount online alterantives not really an option
The same shop aslo so the spec rockhopper expert for £100 less then the whyte , which seams to be a proven bike, similar spec ( same fork ) shimano instead of sram

Thanks

My 809 is a very capable bike, albeit I have upgraded a couple of the main parts on it but still the frame is very nice imo, much prefer having the slacker HA compared to most equivalent hardtails (68.5 vs 70), just adds that extra bit of control for the technical bits without from what I personally don't think any sacrifice for climbing/nimbleness.
Can he not stretch to the 809? Much better fork for a start, Recon RL air instead of the random TK one on the 805.0
