I've got a 2007 stumpjumper fsr comp, had it from new and it's been a brilliant bike! However, the frame is lookin a bit tired after years of riding and im contemplating getting it sprayed (I think i have to much time on my hands)

I'll strip it down my self but get it powder coated by a profesional.

Any thoughts on colour? Possibly white? Would you replace the decals after or leave it?

Thoughts, ideas and shitty comments welcome.

  • Speak to Argos Cycles, that's who I'm getting to do my edison.

Not cheap, but you're paying for a proper, professional job from the best in the business. They'll also give you advice on what will/wont look good, different decal styles etc.
  • Once you paint your frame and warranty will be out the window though, if that bothers you?

I'd still get it painted though, you've already had your monies worth I reckon!

The warranty will be fine if it's done by Argos cycles. They are the official repair specialists in the UK . Giant , kona , specialized and pretty much everyone else use them for repairs .

Are you sure the warranty would be still valid after some painting, even if it is an authorized place? I could imagine there being a problem since it wasn't sent there by Specialized, but privately.

I've asked them in the past and they said it made no difference to the frame warranty . Only issue is if the bike was stripped at home or by a shop , but then thats no different to if you have to replace a part through wear and tear.

Argos was actually recommended to me by Bionicon, who are going to strip the Edison down for me and drop it off with them to be painted, so it had bIoody well better not effect the warranty

In that scenario I could imagine you'll be fine ;)

I'm just worried about the other ones where people strip their bikes themselves, and bring it in privately,w ithout any form of "consent" or reccomendation from the manufacturer.
