Cold groin - any ideas?

I'm trying to keep up my commute once or twice a week during the colder weather, but one problem i've noticed when it gets a bit colder is that my groin area gets a bit cold. I only cycle in shorts (have some altura waterproof baggy shorts with lycra shorts underneath), but as this includes lycra shorts anyway, not sure if full length tights will help (it's not reallt my legs that i seem to have a problem with).
I'm thinking of trying some windproof tights or leg warmers, but some reviews i've read have said that these don't really keep the cold out either, so not sure if it will help.
Any ideas?

Make sure your fly is done up?
Some tights on top of your lycra shorts will help stop the draft. If its still cold then sometimes I wear boxer shorts underneath too (the wicking kind but I'm sure normal ones would be fine). Remember if you wear underpants you will have a vpl!0 -

I do also usually wear sports boxers under the cycle shorts too so have 3 layers ... sounds like some tights might help, but that would be 4 layers, so looking for some recommendations for 'windproof' tights that might mean i don't need the lycra shorts as well ?0 -
Can't say I've suffered with cold groin before! However these seem to have reasonable reviews...

Have you tried not wearing baggy shorts and going boxer, lycra short, and tights- its surprising the difference the make as they help keep blood warmer in your legs which helps with core temperature ...groin...? I was out today wearing this combo and was not cold at all even in the heavy rain. But everyone is different so I'm sure you will find a solution!0 -
I had this problem with my Assos winter tights - everything else was warm except my groin as its not covered by the windproof layer. Contacted Assos and they told me that I should have bought the tights without pad and worn shorts underneath. I'm with some of the above views that it may well be the cool blood returning that's not helping your groin. One of the best ways of keeping your feet warm is to keep your legs warm. Windproof tights are great as they also are water resistant (the Assos ones are brilliant but expensive but I get my money's worth). So, yes, Lycra shorts under unpadded tights (assuming your shorts are padded).ROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0

My permanent solution was to peel of a 3-sheet strip of kitchen roll, fold over and stuff down front of shorts. always workedOrganising the Bradford Kids Saturday Bike Club at the Richard Dunn Sports Centre since 1998

Wear more clothes.
Shorts + tights is more sensible than padded tights. You need to wash padded tights after every ride but not if you wear padded shorts as undies.0 -
