Hi all!
bought this for 120 quid over a year ago for one of my boys, however just about everything on it is now cack!
I bought a new fork from on one today (rockshox recon). First bone question, does the fork come with new headset bearings?
I also need new crankset (deore m590 at 58 quid any good?) and front and rear mechs ( open to suggestions ). Its got sram x5 shifters that are worn but still working ( cables knackered ) brakes are also fairly good.
I would love to replace everything, wheels included, but dont think it makes sense financially!!
Advice and sensible options please!!

My Recon fork from On-One came with a headset. Deore crankset is great.
Have a look on the Rose Bikes website for parts. All SRAM kit below X7 is terrible, particularly the shifters. I would replace both mech & shifters with Deore & enjoy reliable & slick shifting.
You can pick up some reasonable un-used or nearly new wheels, plenty of people replace the standard wheels on their new bikes & sell the perfectly good originals.
Avid Juicy 3 brakes are cheap & reasonably reliable.
Hardrock is a good frame & worth upgrading.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
A headset? Really. How do they know what sort of headset you need.
Or a starnut maybe?I don't do smileys.

Do you run disc brakes or V brakes?0

Its got hayes sole brakes, which were on it from new. They still work, but they are certainly not A1 condition...0

By the time you have bought new wheels, discs and drivetrain parts, you may as well have bought anothe bike! My advice would be to buy something like this:
http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/Bike+Shop ... S-PROD.htm
Put the Recon on it (as is far better), put the RST on the old Hardrock and sell the Hardrock. The bike above, with discounts can be got for about £270.0 -
Supersonic, good shout, but problem is that the crankset is kaput, as well as the rear mech. so these need to be replaced anyway...TBH I would like to improve my skills by rebuilding it, even if its going to cost a bit more.

if I bought this, reckon I am just about there.0 -
True, many ways of cracking this nut!
That is a stunning price for that groupset.0 -
Excellent price - says Euro style though - might have to change the brake hoses over.I don't do smileys.
