hello,
just been to lbs to look at some foot wear,
they have the five ten impact 2 trainers, they looked and felt great but they looked bulky.
I am size 12, I just wondered if anybody has these in a 12?
how do they perform, are they bulky while riding?
thanks
Ben

not a size 12 but am a 5,10 fan they are amazing the grip is unreal sometimes to much if you want to do minor fooot adjustments on the pedals.. i never found them to be bulky, just the perfect riding shoe..www.bearbackbiking.com

Obviously great if your riding with flat pedals....take alook at the shimano DX and AM shoes also.0

I tried the impacts which built for downhill duty so are a little bluky. I went for the freeride version which is a lighter more skate like shoe. CRC have them down to £50 atm0

I have some Five Ten Marvels in a size 12. Fit really well and don't feel bulky at all. They're a freerunning shoe so are designed to be light too (still use the same soles though).
IMO it should be the law that if you use flats, you have to wear five tens, outstanding shoes!0 -
I have some five ten freeriders, bought them a few months ago when i got fed up of wearing my vans for riding, and what a difference!! Definitely worth every penny IMO! Unless you ride downhill though, the impacts may be a little bulky. The freeriders are fine, plenty of grip, fairly stiff, and more importantly, they look like normal shoes!0

hi,
many thanks for your advise,
ive orders some impact ones from je james, but now ive looked at the freerunner ones, they do look good.
what are they like in the wet? do the soak up water or are they ok once they have had a dose of dubbing?

I use FiveTen Impact 2 lows, but not this time of year as they soak up mud and water like a sponge. If you take the insole out of them, the next layer is cardboard, so I wouldn't want to submerge them too often as it may not do them much good. In the dry months though, they are great and although they look a little bulky, they are pretty light, comfortable and stick to the pedals very, very well (it's actually quite hard to make small positioning adjustments while you're riding).
This time of year though, I'm wearing Shimano AM41's, which are a touch lighter, better at repelling water, easier to clean, have a Vibram sole and stick to my V12's almost as good as FiveTens. They are not to everyone's taste however, but I couldn't care less as they are very comfy and do the job I need them to do.
If I had to choose a pair to last me all year round, I think the AM41's would win by a nose.0 -
I have a pair of FiveTen Impacts in a size 11. Only used them on a few rides, but they seem to be holding up well. Very sticky soles compared to standard skate shoes. They are a little bulky/wide, but I haven't found it to be a problem.0

Please stop posting links to 5:10's on offer, i already have a pair of chase and some freeride. I don't want to have to buy a pair of baron's too....0
