Hi all,
In Feb I'm hoping to get myself a new rig, something a lot more aggressive than what I am riding at the moment(Scott Scale, so not exactly hard!). Main uses will be trail centre black runs and harder if you know what I mean. Stuff where the Scale(and perhaps more importantly, my skill) start to get a bit outside their comfort zones. As it stands I can get round pretty much any black, but it's a real challenge given that I only have 80mm travel up front! I'm 6 feet 5, and weigh 90 odd KG's so it's got to be strong! Anyway, enough rambling!
Was thinking somewhere in the region of £3000, preferably £2500 though. With 140-160mm travel. My current contenders are:
Trek Remedy 8 - Seems to get good reviews, good kit for the cash
Trek Slash 7 - Maybe too aggressive?
Scott Genius 40 - Used to have a carbon Genius that I really liked, however might not be aggressive enough with it's geometry, steeper head angle than the others
Cannondale Jekyll 3 - Currently the joint favourite with the Remedy
It's worth noting that I can get a very good price on anything from Scott, Cannondale, Trek and Giant. So something else is going to have to be pretty good to justify the extra spend!
I am eager to hear from any owners/riders with either the bikes above or other suggestions! I will be test riding before I buy, but as I am the Hertford area there really isn't much to test them on!
Thanks in advance,
Campbell.
