I can't speak for SKS mudguards but can for crud roadracer mk2. They feel a little bit flimsy but do a cracking job of keeping everything nice and clean including the front mech & chainset. Cracking piece of kit....

  • I had a set of the Roadracer Mk1 and wasn't too impressed either. So not impressed I actually took them off the bike and binned (sorry, recycled) them. However, the Mk2 version is much better- I bought a set of them and I'm quite happy. If you have clearance and mudguard eyelets though an sks set will be better still.

Oh dear - you binned a virtual complete set of spares for the Mk2s then!

@Stanley222 - the Mk1 and Mk2 are basically identical except that the Mk2s rear guard extends to the bottom bracket using one additional piece missing from the Mk1. This keeps cack off the seat tube and front mech (actually, they are better at protecting the front mech than SKS mudguards).

I now leave my Mk2s on my Ribble year round. They aren't hard to take off and refit but there seems little point taking them off as even in summer if you ride every day you are going to get hit by rain a fair few times. They are sturdy enough to have lasted thousands of miles without trouble.
