OK,
I should know better than to buy shoes from the internet.

Anyway I bought some new Sidi Dominator 5's in a 44 2 weeks ago.

I usually wear a 43 in Specialized and heard Sidi's come out small hence a size up.
Wearing them indoors felt fine so I put on new SPD cleats and went out.
Well after 5 miles I had to come home as it feels like a screw head is sticking into the base of my little toe where it joins my foot on both feet!!
Now walking indoors I can feel it too, but when I remove the insole I cant really feel any bumps.

I should have sent them back but the cleats had left witness marks in the sole so thought I couldn't really, so instead I trimmed a little of the insole in the pressure area to see if that helped--it didn't so in desperation I even scraped a little off the inside of the shoe base which has improved matters a lot but not enough really.

I have Sidi motorbike boots also in a 44 which are v comfy so am v suprised as I dont have odd shaped feet.

I needed to get out so just went and bought some Specialized BG experts from my LBS.
Lesson learnt--should've gone there first :(:(

Anyone fancy a cheap pair of Sidi's? Only done 5 miles--need new insoles the modding to the inside of the shoe is minimal.

  • Painful for me, judging by the reviews not painful for most people.

    See reviews here, http://www.wiggle.co.uk/sidi-dominator- ... mtb-shoes/
  • Just a quick thing, have you tightened them up too tight?
  • Thanks MM have tried them loose but no better.

Thanks for the first constructive reply.

Hope this Isn't going to be one of those "wo is me threads" that so many sad posters launch into

I made an honest mistake, post an honest account and await my fate despite the usual forum vultures

    Happy Crimbo!
  • Sometimes the cleat screws you use can be a tad long as you can get two lengths in some shoes "not sure of actual length" but I have had this issue before and just changed the screw for one around 2mm shorter and problem solved and also don't over tighten as some people crank them right up which is not recommended.

  • Thanks Stu,

Thought about that but the pressure area is right at the side, not where the screws are. However now I have removed the cleats I ought to try them again, in fact the more I think about it maybe I did them up too tight and distorted the base.
They are at a friends house as he is trying them for size. Doh
