Carpal Tunnel Surgery

Hi,
I've just been booked in for carpal tunnel surgery (open type) after bad nerve conduction tests. I'm wondering what experiences anyone has in how long afterwards you were able to ride properly again? I'm guessing there is quite a difference in the time when you can ride again to the time when you can ride properly off-road again?
Not looking forward to it really, I HATE hospitals, but at least it might cure the problems I have had for several years. Not sure my boss is looking forward to it either, I think he expects me back the day after the op if i can get a lift! From what I read it will be a week or two before I am ready, even though mine is mostly a desk job.

had mine done when i broke my wrist as part of the collateral. Had it in a cast for 6 weeks, but tbh it was still about a week after then until it wasn't sore to the touch around the scar tissue. my best piece of advice it to massage where the scar tissue is and keep doing so a couple of times a day as soon as you can bear to touch/massage it without being in pain (you can do it sat down watching TV so doesn't interrupt the day too much)0
