What's your budget? what kind of riding to you do on it? Are you heavy? Are you looking for fancy colours? Are you planning on just getting the hubs rebuilt onto new rims or entirely new wheels?0

Hi,
80kg, not downhill stuff, Malvern hills, forest of dean, Canock chase. Black will do fine,
I looked at just rims but they are £60-£70 each plus fitting which seems alot when I could sell the wheels I have for £200
What do you think0 -
Stans of some sort- not UST but just as good, and far lighter than the Mavic options of comparable strength (there's nothing wrong with my 819s, but they're not as tough as my Flows and they're also heavier and narrower)
Stans Flow is a fairly close equivalent to your 321s strengthwise- have they been tough enough for you?Uncompromising extremist0 -
Yes they still seem good and true.0

Then if I was you, I'd probably go Arch or Flow. Flow is overkill for me on the trail bike- I'm just about to move them onto my downhill bike in fact- but there's not an awful lot of weight difference so I didn't mind going up a class.Uncompromising extremist0

So would it be best just get the rims or complete wheels from ?0

Can you build wheels?0

take a look at sun ringle deals on chain reaction, they work as a notubes rim, so you could run it tubeless and it s a great discount...0

Those Blackflags look amazing value... Ringle hubs mind, so that's not so good, but otherwise it's hard to argue. Actually very tempted to grab a 29er set.Uncompromising extremist0

I got some hope pro 2 evo with mavic xm719 rims. I have the stans kit coming with them and racing Ralph tyres. Will the rim tape that comes in the stans kit be enought to get the tyre to inflate. I've read that sometime you have to put more tape on to get the tyre to seal.
Any coments0 -
I run an XM719 tubeless, you need that standard rim strip rather than the stans yellow tape. Stans also recommend that you leave a rim tape in place under the strip. Mine inflated first time with a track pump, however every time I've changed a tyre since I've had to use a compressor to seat the bead as the strip has now been formed to the same profile as the rim, which has a deep centre channel which makes it very difficult to get the bead up onto the bead benches to get it to seal.0

Cheers mate, my mate tried today on xc719 and couldn't get them to inflate ?0

Using a non tubeless rim and a non tubeless tire is asking for problems.....
They MAY inflate, they may go on the rim, but the problems once inflated are just beginning, If you were to flat or burp the tire off the rim, you may never (out on the trails) get them back on again.
Converting a non tubeless rim is do-able, but I'd go for a tubeless tire or tubeless compatible tire if I was you. ;0)Ibis Mojo HD 2011 www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php? ... t=12842777

Stans site has a list of recommended tyres here:

My stans kit arrived this morn along with two maxxis ardent folders, wouldnt inflate at first so took the sort of plastic rim tape off got years ago from merlins and put one turn of stans tape and drilled the first extrusion on the rim then used the co2, so far stayed up, the other tyre is on the other rim inflated with a tube till tommorow morn to bed to the rim hopefully it will seal quicker.0
