Decide on budget and type of riding first.
    And don't shout.

Carbon 456 would be a good call, if you don't mind having a really ugly bike.

Cotic soul/dialled alpine/evil sovereign/genesis alpitude/ragley anything would all also be good shouts.

    And it's "should", not "shud".

I have one, I think it looks s**t... It looks like it was probably ugly even before it went on fire and melted and got beaten out with a shovel. In fact, it's so damn ugly, it's almost 10% as ugly as my Ellsworth.

    But it rides well.

    "On One Carbon 456"

Kinda Ugly graphics and not particularly light (you can get triple butted aluminum frames that are lighter).

Have a look at something like the Exotic mountain bike frame for budget carbon frames. Avoid the unbranded Chinese made ones, if you can.
  • Apart from peoples opinions of it looking shit.(i have to admit i'm probably not one to comment on styling)

What's the reasoning behind it being shit cos it chineez,Sound like I'm trolling here but I'm quite interested in how people formulate this opinion as if such a bike were to be made in Britain it would cost slightly more than you could buy it from OO.There's a good reason behind it being heavier than the norm and then its not spectacularly heavy ?

You can get XC frames that are lighter, but he doesn't want an XC frame - the 456 is the lightest frame of its type. What is wrong with China? Many carbon frames are built there, including some from Giant and Merida, who also build for many other brands.

Yeah, good luck running a long travel fork in a weight weenie XC frame...

And i'm pretty sure everything Exotic sell is made in China (or at least one of the poorer Asian countries), as are a lot of components on your bike(s?) I'm willing to bet.
