European Bus System of the Future

I came across this by chance. I am amazed to see that there really is an EU initiative to design a new bus system. Seems to me a good way to get a few snouts in the trough. The most striking thing is that these euro-buses seem to be of the articulated type which have just been phased out in London. Here's hoping we manage to repel the foreign invasion!!

The most striking thing about the Volvo effort is that the driver is situated centrally 'for better allround visibility'. Or as the cynic in me suspects 'because it's cheaper since we don't have to worry about left hand/ right hand drive'.
