9 speed 105/10 speed Ultegra - yes or no?

I currently have a 105 triple with a 9 speed 12-25 cassette. Sorry if this is a really dumb question, but will I be able to do a straight cassette swap for an Ultegra 10 speed 12-27 or will my 105 shifters only 'do' eight changes from the first to last sprocket?

No and yes.

You've answered your own question really.

Firstly you won't have enough clicks from the shifter, and secondly the 10 speed sprockets will be slightly closer together than the 9 speed ones, so you won't even be able to select 9 of your sprockets cleanly.
