I've tried everything with socks and the Endura thermalite ones were ok, but now they are just a smidge too cool, any ideas for warmer socks?

Cheers

Woolie Boolies, with a hiking liner sock underneath, with those two I've not even had to get the overshoes out yet this year.

 I'd cook with that lot on. I'm beginning to realise I don't suffer from cold feet. I only own summer cycling socks. On today's ride just a pair of oversocks more to keep my (summer) shoes clean than for the warmth.

    Hi there

Found these on my local market but, as you can see, they are widely available on Fleabay.

Used them over the past week or so and they are great. In equivalent temperatures in the past, I have needed my overshoes as well as 2 pairs of normal socks to mediate the wind chill factor. With these my feet are toasty over a 25 mile ride and no overshoes to faff about with either.

if you're not too much of a "clothing tart" then avoid the overpriced cycling socks and buy these.
  • Many thanks, both flavours ordered, see how it goes...

I suffer from cold feet pretty badly on longer rides. Best thing for me so far has been

    1 pair of thin socks

1 pair of merino walking socks

    thick overshoes

When the temperature gets really low like last winter I just give up on feeling my toes all together.

Woolie Boolies for me too. Last winter I was in ski socks, which as they were almost knee length looked a little weird. This year I've got some WB's and they rock. 1 degree this morning and feet were nice and toasty (inside socks + dhb R1's and Altura overshoes).

Never heard of Woolie Boolies before but might invest after Xmas, my feet got a bit numb yesterday. The Aldi Merino socks are good for the money but once the temp starts getting close to zero they don't work as well.

    Just found these on wiggle:

    Good deal?????

  • Woolie Boolie's are great.

Just got some Sealskinz waterproof/windproof socks too (suffer from cold toes) and they seem great. On and off bike.

Also got some PRO tarmac NPU+ overshoes and they are toastie. And keep your shoes clean 8)

I've recently bought a pair of the Diadora Chilli Extreme boots from Merlin - cost me only £38 at the time with a discount code and although I've only used them about 5 or 6 commutes they are great - I had to eventually go 3 sizes up from normal to get a spacious fit but they are comfy, and the only small amount of water I've found get to my socks was likely due to running down my legs. I've only done rides of about 75 mins max but with thin socks and P-X overshoes they are worth serious consideration and I wish I'd got these years ago instead of trying to squeeze extra socks or plastic bags etc into normal road shoes when it is cold and/or wet.
On the use so far I reckon I could go to below -5 and with warmer socks probably -10 and still have warm tootsies.
Such a difference to ride through soaking roads and get to work with dry feet and then head for home at the end of the day with dry shoes to put back on.
  • Another vote for Woolie Boolies.

I'm riding with just them and my shoes so far this winter and have been fine and on top of that my oldest pair are about 4 years old and still look like new (unlike the Sugoi socks I bought that holed after about 2 months, admittedly they were summer weight though).

Glad to read that...ive got a pair for christmas :D
Did you suffer from cold feet before...i know i do, so cold i could cry, hence trying the Chilis.

BTW, we were in Poundland the other week and the wife saw some thermal soles...for a pound surprisingly. They're not the whole answer but blimey, you can feel the extra warmth under your feet.

+ 18 for the Woolie Boolies, as long as there's room in your shoes for them.

Them plus a pair of cheapy PX overshoes and I'm toasty for hours on the bike

Another fan of Woolie Boolies here, but you'll need to be aware they are thick old socks. I couldn't wear them with my old s-works road shoes sadly.

Rapha winter socks are worth a look - the bundle deal makes them less expensive, they are very warm and cut a little higher up the ankle than the WB's.
