Shimano XT M765 lever + XTR M975 Caliper

Hi,
My XT765 caliper is leaking and can't get fixed so I need to put a new one, but shimano is not selling it anymore nor the xt775. I found a reasonably price XTR 975 caliper but I wonder if it will be possible to fit the XT 765 break lever with the XTR 975 caliper. Anybody ever try that ?
I am looking for that because I have a stock of break pads and rotors left from the 765.
