Not usually that bothered about work, it's a job get on with it.

But at which point would you lot decide to tell your employer to shove it where the sun doesn't shine? and I don't mean Rhyl.

So far this week I've worked nearly 60 hours, endured countless complaints over issues I'm not involved in or have no control over. Having to make people redundant for the wrong reasons has been difficult and in one case probably the worst thing the for the company. This builds on to the fact I haven't had a decent holiday without interruption or s**t about being unresponsive when I get back in nearly 4 years. I'm seriously considering telling my boss where to go on Monday (when he returns from about the 10th week of sick leave he's had this year, all without being listed on our HR systems).

i work stupid hours (average 65-70 a week) i have a boss who is cluless and at times i've had attitude when i go on holiday at 'busy' times that didn't look busy when i boooked the holiday!! my commute is a pain in the balls (like yours i think) but it's a job and it pays reasonably well, i can't afford to leave without having something else lined up.

so if you can afford to leave and could easily get another job - show your boss the middle finger and bite the bullet and go - just my opinion

    Spong,

Like Kev says, quite a bit depends on how easily you can get another job and/or whether you can afford to take a time off - sounds like you need a bit of the latter. Even if it's quite bad at work, if you can't do either of the above then it's just tough unfortunately.

I was lucky enough to be able to walk out (my choice) - I took a calculated risk that the line of work I'm in is sufficiently in demand and recession proof and I guess I'll find out if I was right next year. It wasn't that the job was that bad, I was feeling a bit jaded having worked since I left uni without ever having more than a couple of weeks off and needed to recharge the batteries/do a few things I wanted to do but didn't have the time. In the meantime, I'm not regretting leaving for a minute :-)

As for the London thing - personal choice really. I quite like it as there's loads happening and I can either bike it in or take the train & tube (was about an hour door to door for either). Plus there's always the option of beer after work if you're not driving :-D

my advice dont do something you may regret. think long and hard about it.

i was kinda happy in my job been there 13 year, we got taken over by another comapny last year,, the new company decided to close our depot down as well as leeds birstol and hamshall....
i was made redundant in july the day my little girl finished school for the summer hols. now working permo nights for the lst 13 years i had not seen much of my daughter nor done much with her mainly due to work (a combo of nights and being a supervisor) she is 4,,,, so idecided to have the summer off and spend some time with her and the missus...
i did apply for jobs and had a few interviews but got no were,, i managed to get a job (thanks to the bro in law) @ iceland distribution centre as a order picker,, worst job i ever had, working ofr an agency on minimum wage. the first week they did not pay me for the training day i got £142.65 it cost me £70 to put fuel in the car to get there,,,,
the job was shat i stuck it out as long as i could for the sake of the littleun and the missus. but no matter what i did they were'nt happy i would hit my targets up they went hit them again up they went..
i missed my targets by 9 items and got a roasting.
the next day i encountered a problem with my mechanical order picker so had to defect it and get another i then had to get thew battery changed, this lost me half an hour then another problem later on cost me another half hour. so i was well down by 250 on my targets.
the next day thursday i knew i would cop it big time i could'nt be arsed any more for £6,25 per hour it was the worst paid job i ever had. so i go in start and the femail genital of a manager comes over and starts i try to tell him why i was so far off my target he didnt car i tired again but all he kept saying was if you dont hit your target after christmass we cut the staff blah blah, i told him it was not my fault that the night shift had not defected the faulty truck. he didnt care, just kept on having a go he then said to me what do you want me to do pick for you i said no he said it again well i cant pick for you can i..
i thought fook this for £6,25 an hour.. my reply to him was can your penis touch your bum hole he said what i asked him again can your penis touch your bum he said eh.. i said well go f**k your self ... and walked out...
that was over a month ago and i aint found a job since i applied for a few but not had anything back,, times are tough at the mo so be sure if you do jack you can find work after.....
i had to go against all my beleif's and go on the dole.. first time in my life i been out of work...
i dont regret it though,, that tosser does'nt know how close he came to being headbutted

Well Howies Is shutting one of their London shops due to a 30% lease increase. Maybe I need to be a hard nosed b'strd for retailers. I know the market increase is 0.  Freelance awkward Cnut sounds like a good idea.

Been through it mate...left a sound job of 14 years that paid well for the bright lights of a sales director roll with a new 5 series and £65k a year plus bonus...all started well then a new MD started who thought he was Alan Sugar and had his nose in everthing took the glory for my hard graft and blamed me if things were going wrong...at the start he was ok but turned into a right self righteous arogant cnut...as I negotiated 6 months notice either way....he brought me in to try and bollock me....before he started i said "listen..this is going to end in either two ways, the first I knock you out, or i'll fook off you can stick the beemer up your ass and give me £32k..." we opted for the later.

Only because of my notice I could afford to do it....otherwise I would still be taking shite from the w@nker who didn't know he ass from his elbow...try and find something so you can have the satisfaction of telling your boss to stick it.

I had a really good employer and boss for 4 years but that just made all other employers and bosses seem so much worse, I now work for myself, not interested in working for other people because of all the above issues, but money is money, get something else lined up then punch him in the face.
