Hi guys,

Looking at getting some Fox F120's for my 2010 Boardman Team Fs Not quite sure why but i'm finding myself seeing forks on ebay but not feeling 100% confident to buy them...

So what do you guys think of these

Or

I'm changing my wheels to acommodate the 15mm axle.

Any advice? or do i just stump up the extra and buy 2010/11 new from a stockist?

seems a bit expensive to me. You can get brand new RS Rebas for around £200. They weight about the same and have more adjust-ability

I had F120's on my Trance. They are ok but Rockshox Reba's perform better, are cheaper, more reliable & need less maintenance.
The anodising on the stanchions on F120's is very thin & wears quickly unless you do a lower leg lube after every ride.
The rebound & compression adjustment is useless, massive range but the steps between each click are too big.
  • The bike already has Reba Sl's on it, just never had fox before and thought about giving them a try as most high end bikes seem to have them. Seems like the rebas might be staying.

I'd keep the Rebas. Or if you really want to upgrade try giving TF tuned a call ans if you can put a black box damper or something like that.

Fox are OK i've then in the past but they are SO expensive compared with Rock Shox. I'd have them if they came on a bike I liked but wouldn't buy separately.

I would take Rockshox over Fox anytime.
As above send them to TF Tuned. Get them service & maybe tuned or an upgraded damper.
You will just be throwing money away by replacing them with Fox F120's which are if anything not as good.
  • Well that'll do me... saves me a truck load of cash.. i'll stick with the Reba's

On a slightly different note, i would like to upgrade the monarch 3.1 but am not sure what to

    Monarch 4.2, RT3, Fox RP23???

My OCD is trying to force me to have matching shocks (RS) but quite a few people saying the RP23 is the one to go for...

    ARGH...
  • rp23 is really good

I would say fox for the rear, stick with rebas for the front. Go for an RP2 if you want to save money over the RP23, very similar.

Unless the monarch is letting you down then I'd stick with it.
I know suspension design has a lot to do woth it but i've always been more impressed with the monarchs than the fox air cans I've tried.

  • Just had an email from TFTuned and they can blackbox retrofit the reba's for £90.. .. think i'll go with this.

Would this be fine for my Boardman? i mean there is nothing specific to it only working with the Orange Five?

If it's the right size it will be fine, if not it won't fit.

You need to measure your existing rear shock length mate (eye to eye measurement).
