I'm 5'6" and have a small(16") I've ridden my mates 18" and TBH it didn't feel that much different other than the fact I'd have a 50mm stem and not the 70mm he has.0

how did you find the standover height comparing both?0

and the reach? when you were pedaling along did you feel on the medium that you were slightly over stretched ie holding onto bars with just your fingers so you could sit up more etc.....bit of a strange question but ive had these uncomfertable moments, its ok to lean forward and ride propperly but hurts my back on a long ride if im over stretched...i had the shortest stem on too, not a mmmbop, never ridden one and doubt i would be able to try one out0

been looking at the Blue pig too, is there anyone here thats got an oppinion on them?0

I've got an 18 inch. I'm pushing 5'11 on a good day, i would say it's probably a little big for me, stand over clearance isn't massive but I prefer a stretched out feel on the bike.
I'f your unsure i'd settle for a 16 inch. Alot depends on personal preference.0 -
aye was having a nosey on the Ragley site, 16" they reccomend.
Two things that concern me about the blue pig ,are :-
1) The fixed mech hanger....whats the deal with that? what if you bend or break it, do you need a new frame or can you get cover for it?
2) Steerer tube is 1.125 tapered or 1.5" . Is the tapered one standard tapered down to 1.5" and is the 1.5 option 1.5" all the way down the steerer?
im unsure of these 2 things0 -

they are steel most steel frames have a fixed mech hanger,, being steel they should bend back... if you worried why not look at the blupig x that has swapouts...
With the advent of taper steerer forks, and the popularity of 1.5in forks for hardcore riders, steel frames were getting left behind. No more - with Ragley's adoption of the 44mm headset standard, allowing use of headsets from Cane Creek, Nukeproof and others to get those modern forks fitting on steel hardballs. With the right headset, this frame can take a 1.125in, tapered or 1.5in fork.
We recommend Nukeproof headset models - 44IESS (standard), 44IETS (tapered) or 44EEOS (1.5in steerer).
you can use a reducer head set from like cane creek and use a stadard fork.. or tapered fork, or a 1.5 fork..www.bearbackbiking.com

Hi Delcol, yeah i had read that on their site, so you are saying that a standard 1 & 1/8 fork will fit, a tapered and a 1.5, 3 forks? i was unsure as they only state 2 forks on their site.
cheers

i got a chromag stylus hartail steel.
it has the same headtube diameter and takes a 44mm canecreek stem, i am running mine with the reducer (crownrace) on a pair of standard 1/18 fox 36 talas rc2 forks. my brother has the same bike running his with bos devilles 1.5 tapered. the only differnce when we built the bikes was i used the reducer to fit my 1/18 steerer tube he used the 1.5 one....

not sure about the 1.5 fork but the 1/18 and 1.5 tapered fork will fit.. that quote was off ragley website...www.bearbackbiking.com

I'm 5'10... Brant told me I definately needed a small, so I got a small, which was stupidly small tbh- needed a 420mm seatpost even with 175 cranks, that's just silly, and felt cramped even with a 60mm stem. So I bought a medium, and unsurprisingly it fitted me, since I'm a pretty medium kinda guy.Uncompromising extremist0

i've got a Blue pig, 18" (large) and i am 6'0" and its perfect in size with a 50mm stem and i have put a layback post on it to push me a tiny bit further back for the stepper descents.
i looked at a 16 and it was far too small for me!0 -
hi guys , How have you found the blue pig to ride?0
