Ive got a chance to build the bike of my dreams (within reason) i ride alot in the peaks and go once a year to the alps and i also enjoy doing endurance races so i need a bike that will cover all bases. It doesnt have to be light or any thing like that, it just needs to pedal well and this is were i come stuck because one of the frames im looking at is brand new and hasnt any UK reviews also i cant break £2000 for the frame.
So here is the unknown. A Foes Racing shaver £1700 frame only.
[img][/img]
It looks like it should ride amazing and also its a rare beast
Next one is the good old Ibis mojo HD 140 my LBS has a 2011 frame in white for £1800
But it seems like alot of people have them which is good but also bad thats why i stayed away from santa cruz.
Any help or opinions will be greatly recieved.
Cheers

There's never valid reason to stay away from Santa Cruz
Even in rich Surrey and an SC bike shop in the hills, they're not that common. Orange Fives on the other hand!
I'm biased so I'd say SC Nomad or Blur frame - £1800 . No idea how it compares though. I just tried it and liked it, Nomad that is. Got it for a general does everything and likewise option for the Alps also (maybe the Mega some day).0 -
Tiz nice that !!
Also look at the Transiton Covert, Tomac Snyper (I have one it's wicked) and available at Freeborn cycles the the Mythics and Devinci's and Elesworths...0 -
Ive also been looking at a intense carbine but its just over my budget but im waiting to see if CRC reduce it after christmas
Out of a group of people i go rinding with, over half of them have SC, i know they are a good bike i just wanted something abit different.
Thanks for the suggestions and commenets keep them coming
cheers

For you want I'd say Tomac Snyper as well, chap I ride with has one and it's pretty good XC while being in its element over rougher stuff. He built it up from a frame breaking his much modded HT for many parts.
SimonCurrently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
how very dare you,,, santacruz all the way.... hardley ever see santcruz ooooopp here.
it's always snapierres or common cracks (commencal) or orange 5s. treks ect.
for me it would be santacruz or the ibis. or that pivot mach 5.7 carbon.. looks an amazing bike...
if you want something rare a knolly endorphin

Ive just been offered a santa cruz carbon nomad with full xt and a RS lyric air fork for £3500, i just dont know if
1, i want to spend that on a second hand bike
2, if its too much of a bike for my needs
At this moment im swaying towards the ibis, its just everytime i look at the Foes
some great alternatives coming up though.
cheers

How old? £3500 for carbon nomad and that spec sounds good if it's pretty new. Paid similar for ex-demo alloy Nomad though it had a few additional upgrades beyond that spec. Carbon would have added £1k to it probably.
Worried about too much bike for my needs until I rode it. Don't care now, it's a blast. Besides, us rich Surrey folk have to waste money on expensive bikes beyond our needs/ability. It's the done thing .
Where are you based? There's a sale of ex-demo SC stuff going at shop round my way.
The Foes does look nice have to say.0 -
If you want something that's a bit better for the racey stuff the Mojo SL-R may be more sensible than the HD? Depends what you want it to excel at I guess.0

Its a 2011 ex demo bike which SC classed as 8 out of 10 ?! Its on the SC UK website.
I looked at the SLR but i cant find one for sale and ive heard alot of issues with people trying to get hold of them, and also it will be over my £2000 limit for a frame !!! (still feel abit sick when i say that !!! never spent this much money on a bike before )

If only it was that easy ;-)
i really like them both, but i dont want the white one to be a fashion fopar in a couple of years0 -
That's unlikely, if anything it'll be a faux pas ;-)
It's a colour, do you really care!? White bikes are not a new thing, I can't imagine they're going to be that out of fashion anyway, the bike will be likely obsolete in a few years anyway, the colour won't really date it.0 -
Anyway they'll both look sh1t with white wheels.I don't do smileys.

LOL. I like your honesty
personal taste and all that

Taste? Cooldad? You will get reported with posts like that! Anyway, red is always faster, Supersonic said so last year although he has probably forgotten.0

White is the new Black...red is gay....0

In that case if you're going to try and sound intellectual, get it right: "The lady doth protest too much, methinks"I don't do smileys.
