What tyre levers?

Bought a bike a while back with Alex Supra D rims and 2.4 wire bead Big Bettys. Have not had a puncture and have never removed them.
Will I get the tyres off with my trusty plastic tyre lever or will I need something better? Don't want to be stuck in the woods with a flat and a broken lever. Cheers

I get my wire beaded high roller off with plastic levers, mate has some park ones that are quite sturdy.
You would probably get it off without a lever if you had to.0 -
who need levers when you got fingers... man up and roll it off.....
i aint a man and have pedros and park tyre levers both get dualply dh tyres off,www.bearbackbiking.com

I've got loads that have come with various cheap stuff and chucked in free with orders. Mostly the same, all plastic, just that some are slightly fatter ends which is more difficult to get under the tyre rim.
They're all perfectly strong enough I find. Don't go spending a fortune on fancy stuff.
If you snap one lever you usually have two remaining. It's a bit easier to lever off two points and use the third to unseat between them, but can do it with less or even one lever and fingers.
And yeah, fingers can do it, just it can take a lot of effort.0 -
I would not be using fingers.

My Sunn MAG 30 rims are a real bitch, it is impossible to get tyres on or off with anything other than metal levers.
My Alex rims were pretty easy by hand.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

Most tyres will come off without tools. But, it's still easier IMO to do it with a good lever. The Lezyne plastic ones are s**t hot, best I've used- hook in as easier as Pedros but have a bit more lever. Getting a dualply off a tubeless XC rim can be a right swine without them.Uncompromising extremist0
