using a garage forecourt air machine to pump shock or fork up.

would it work do you think?

    You need low volume, high pressure pump - forks have a tiny amount of air in them.

    Try shaking a bottle of champagne vigourously for a few minutes at arms length point towards your face an then pop the cork...onlt then will you understand it's a similar scenario.

    word of warning please stand well back and use pump at arms length, oh and be sure to wear safety glasses

    10-20 ft
    20-30ft
    30-40ft
    40-50 ft
    50-60ft

    100-to outer space.

    Garage inflators are usually pretty low volume- not much more than a track pump. It won't work though- very imprecise, air will escape when you remove the hose even assuming you can get it to fit, and I'd be suprised if they can deliver high pressure- but it's not likely to explode either.
