Orange X2 resurrected and farkled

I've had this X2 since 1997 or thereabouts (memory is faded but it was new at the time) and rode it regularly until other stuff and lardyness got in the way... so move on what seems like a good few years and I've removed it from its in bits storage state and gave it a quick tweak and ride outs to see what it an I needed as restoration work.
Bike wise the old Mazocchi Bombers whilst in good shape weren't up to hold my increased physique up so lost most of thier travel bobbing plus the now wobbly shimano hubs weren't adding to any sort of stiffeness. Both combined would cause the old V-brakes to rub whilst pedaling (rear) or cornering (front). A trawl of here and ebay to find out whats more current has lead the updgrade/repair path and the old clunker is now equipped with a mix of disk brake bits (hope M4 rear, Hays 9 DHX? front) and some spangly Hope Hoops (pro 2 evos with flow rims) . I had converted the old forks to post mount disk (via a tweaked IS-PM adapter) but the lack of spring rate and now spindly spec lead me to a set of ebay'ed Fox 140mm Vanilla RLC forks..
PS had to mod the rear triangle to fit a tweaked A2Z disk adapter to get the rear disk brake on but it seems to have turned out ok.
Enough of the waffle Pics of just reassembled and cleaned.
mid transformation with disks and old Bombers
and now with the Fox front end.

Not sure you should be lookin at me baubles :O
One thing I noticed as dramatically changed over the years off was fitting tyres to the new rims with shallow wells and high? rim walls. It was a proverbial pain in the harris. I've had easier Motor Bike tyre fitting sessions than getting that bloomin front conti on without pinch flatting, resorted to steel levers as the old placcy ones I've never used for fitting before (thumbs were good enough with old rims) kept snapping. Plan was to go tubeless at some point. might save it for the tyre to "break in" a bit 1stNorco Aurum 3 viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=129395310 -
so thats how you spell baubles ok lession learned for next year..
yeah some tyres are a definate pain to fit that last 3-4 inch...
people say any tyre can be fitted (bycycle) without the use of levers i had to fix a punture the other week for the brother-in-law he had schwalbe marthons they are a right pain to seat...
lucky for me the day before someone on here was asking how to fit a marthon tyre and Nicklouse had linked a cool video up.. iseen this trick done with dh dualply mtb tyres,, it's a god send..
try it next time it really does work.

I've got an X2 as well but its got a cracked frame - still got the original stratos helix shock on it. tried a couple of other shocks but they never worked as well as the stratos did0 -
Don't suppose you'd consider selling it???0

-
And what would the price of a 20+ year old shock set me back? Could be classed as a classic, Is the bike complete?0

-
Any other bits from the bike you want to get rid of?0
-
got a rear XT V brake, the rear triangle, stx RC crank. I bought it as a frame when they first released it and transfered things over from my C16R no much left on it.0

Ok let me know what you want for the shock, would you include the bolts and spacers?0

I have a c16r with stx-rc. It was the last bike where you chose the bike and then also chose the groupset which was really handy.0 -
I'll just take the shock if thats ok, how much do you want including postage?0
