avid elixir r 2011 - problem

hi all, I just got avid elixir r hydrolic brakes 2011 but it seems that someone squeezed a lever and when I looked at a caliper both pads were very close to each other (couldn't fit the wheel in). I moved them away, fit the wheel in and did the caliper adjustment. Now when I squeeze the lever, first attempt is kind of empty (pads are not touching the rotor), second is fine but after several both pads are rubbing the rotor. I didn't cycle yet but I wonder if there is something I'm missing? Piston reset etc...

just use them they will settle down.
