Has anyone used floating rotors with the centre lock attachment together? And if so has it fit ok? Any problems?

If not has anyone a recommendation for a coloured centre lock rotor to use with Shimano brakes?
Bianchi. There are no alternatives only compromises!

I think floating rotors are too thick to work with an adapter as the alu bit in the center is much thicker than the steel bit on a normal rotor, stopping it from clamping properly or making it rub on the fork. iirc formula make coloured centrelock floating rotors, so no adapter would be needed, but they are stupidly expensive.

Another option would be to get painted steel rotors such as these:

  • i dont have floats but are got superstar 203mm with adaptor with 180mm for the rear with adaptor and they fit perfect very pleased with them, what ever you buy remember to spray a bit off brake cleaner on the discs and wipe off, this is too clean the oil coat off them.

Looking for a bit of bling too match your riding buddys bike  been looking at the floating rotors myself they can't make my brakes feel anyworse
What if your dreams and fears existed in the same place? What if to get to heaven, you had to brave hell? What if everything you've ever wanted cost you everything you've ever achieved? Would you still go there?

Maybe the bling or maybe the brakes? The Scott i've been looking at has Elixer 5's so tempted to throw them on the commie and invest in some Codes or Saints for the Scott

Floating rotors can cause clearance problems with no benefits. Pointless.

Every time floating rotors are mentioned you reply like this - and I'm that much of a saddo that when I saw the topic title, I bet myself that you'd reply and post in this fashion.

You must have had some really bad experiences with floating rotors? If so, please can you elaborate?

I fitted Superstar floating rotors and have never had any clearance issues.

I've had no problems because I don't use them. The reason answers get repeated is that so do questions, over and over again.
They are a solution to a problem that generally doesn't arise with bicycles.
Note I said 'can' cause problems.

Watch out for WD40/GT85 threads. 'I want to put lots of colourful cr4p on my bike' threads, 'Flats vs SPD's' and 'What tyres are the best' threads and you'll see the same answers.

    I blame Wiggle.

I have heard that WD40 is good, but GT85 smells better.

    Note this is bad advice.

i prefare the smell of and use- used veggie oil out of the chip pan.. on long rides when you get hungry you can lick the chain and still taste chips some links even taste of fish...
  • I once ran out of chain oil and CNBA to go and buy some so I used Olive oil, not virgin mind. Did the trick that once.

His wife ran off with one.

Nah but really, they are crap. Stupid idea- just adds a load of complexity. They're not even light (yes, aluminium's lighter than steel- but you use about 3 times as much, then you've got the rivets as well) May possibly be better when overheated, but better still is to have brakes that work right in the first place-

Nail on the head there northwind. Plain guage steal all the way. Saying that, would got for Ice Tek if I was going for a new shimano though.

you forget, or dont realise that most people don't spend alot of their free time on here like you do, so the repetition might not be so obvious for them. Its a forum - people ask questions. No point in being a misery surely?

I agree but Proutster originally complained that I repeat myself - I was explaining why that's necessary.
