Your Cleaning & Lube Procedure

I always clean down my bike after the trail but im wondering if im doing it right. I hose off any debris and then give it a soapy (fairy liquid) wash. I use a spray engine de greaser on the chain then hose that off. A quick wipe with a rag and finally a spray with TF2 teflon protector on gears, chain and any suspension shafts. Basicly its a liberal spray all over except for discs and pads.
Im now wondering if im actually locking in any remaining moisture with the TF2 teflon spray? And is a proper oil better on the chain. Would wd40 do a good lubricating job especially with its water dispersing abilities? Ive never used gt85 what do you guys think of it.
Just wondering what your cleaning and lube procedure is and with what product?
Rob.

You should have to have a license to buy GT85 and WD40, given to you only if you can answer a test on what a lubricant is.0

There's a guide at the bottom of this page, I'd stay away from WD40 and GT85 though.2019 Ribble CGR SL

Would help if Halfords stop giving away GT85 with purchases. Seems they think it's the required fix for anything on a bike yet spraying it on the bike won't make their forks suddenly the right way round.0

Hi Rob, firstly I would keep away from fairy liquid and especially engine degreaser.....use a product called fenwicks...
http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/fenwicks ... 69473.html
Used neat it is a great de-greaser for your chain etc, diluted 10 to one with water it makes a great bike cleaner...after a ride a hose off most of the muck, I have some diluted fenwicks in a spray and spray over the bike, leave it for a few minutes and using a bucket of warm water wash all the crap off. Stiff brush and a chain cleaning device (a fiver off ebay) with some neat fenwicks and the chain will be sparkling in no time....
Muc Off bike spray to get rid of excess water in bearing contacts etc....then Muc Off wet chain lube applied to the chain...
Never use an automotive degreaser like gunk etc as it is to powerful and could wash your grease out of bearings etc.0 -
+ 1 for fenwicks.... been using it for years...www.bearbackbiking.com
