Does this exist - mtb steering lock

...When I say steering lock, I mean steering restrainer. My handlebars come all the way round and keep threatening to scratch my top-tube. I can't increase the height of the controls because I already have a short steerer tube. Is there a headset that stops complete rotation of my bars?

ONly thing I know of are touring bike headset parking locks. Strange problem to have or want to solve. Rubber ended grips/end caps might be best.0

Have you got riser bars? If so, are they set up the right way, ie rising?
Could always fit a different angle stem too, to point the bars up more.0 -
how low is your stem and bars....www.bearbackbiking.com

not an issue and no there is not.
Look at road bikes they manage fine."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Not that I've ever had an issue with it, but they do exist - Acros do something which sounds like what you're after:

Yes, they do exist, but they aren't common and the last one I saw was in a MTB mag of about 7 years back where the rider had fitted the lock to prevent his triple clamps skelping the frame and denting it. The lock allowed the range to be adjusted and it looked like he had it adjusted to about 1mm clearance between frame and fork leg.
Sounded a really good idea but then the triple clamps came with bumpers on the legs to prevent frame damage.
I don't think it was a MTB specific product and it was so long ago I don't recall the product name. It came about about a year before frame manufacturers started making allowances with downtube design for the more 'instrusive' fork crowns which started hitting the frames.
The Acros thing looks like it will be the job as well. The Quest for Singletrack is Endless...0 -
except that all forces will be put into a Press fit cup. which will aid its removal."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

So what you're saying is that it'll twist or if it take a big enough whack then the alu knob inside will just fold making it useless?0

Even bigger problem - find one for sale. Only one I could find is £100. I'd take my chances with frame damage.I don't do smileys.

Hebie do a couple of parking steering restrainers, not sure if that's what you want though, or whether it would fit your bike.

Cut a section from an old tyre and ziptie it onto the tube... if you're really worried about it.A Flock of Birds

Thanks Horton, that ACROS headset was exactly what I was after, although 100 notes is a bit steep!
I've gone from a medium frame Canyon to a Large and the forks steerer was already cut before the transfer. There's no spacers under the stem and yes I could get a higher rise bar but I've only recently bought the one I have (NukeProof). Stem angle could be an option, although I'm not sure it would be enough.0 -
Shorten your gear cables as this will reduce the distance your bars can move.0

best advice yet if you dont mind replacing mechs and shifters often."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
