The rockshox sektor R 150mm' that came on my Blue pig came with medium coils (as fitted as standard from what i have been told) and i am 17st, so the forks are bottoming out on some of the drops.

Im going to order up the extra firm coils and fit them myself following the Tech Manual for the fork

one question i have got is this;

is it possible to remove the coils through the top of the fork (normal procedure) without removed the lowers? i.e. remove the preload on the non drive side adn the blanking cap on the drive side and then lift the coild out?

cheers in advance

    Not sure but just a comment on the spring, I weight around 12 1/2 stone and use the extra firm spring (it suits my riding style or lack off).

    your forks should bottom out otherwise your not using full travel.

    I found the medium spring was way way too soft for any type of technical riding.

    did you do the job yourself? is it a pretty simple task?!

    (i'm pretty confident in maintaining the bike and strip rebuild stuff, just never tackled forks before)

    easy just do it as per instructions, take your time, I found replacing the seals in my shock harder if that gives you an indication on difficulty!!

    Cheers mate, good to know

    I shall be attempting this when I get chance, definately before i head off to Cwmcarn or Afan I think.

    do I actually need to remove the lowers, or can I just do it through the top (removing the Preload and Blanking cover)?

    i know this sounds like im trying for a short cut, i just wondered if the removal of the lowers was necessary

    I did it with the lowers off and replaced oil, wiped clean etc so a mini service.

    I was a bit worried as well but really is a simple job.

    And when you go Cwmcarn me and DodgeT might tag along.
