A mech hanger question - pls help find the flaw in my logic!
Hey guys,
I snapped the mech hanger on my bike (2010 focus variado expert compact; in case anyone has a spare one handy!:P) and I'm really struggling to find a replacement (wiggle don't/won't source one, and focus bikes haven't replied to any of my emails yet.)
I was wondering, where would I be going wrong if I were to use a universal hanger (http://www.evanscycles.com/products/whe ... gn=froogle) as a permanent one?
I have a niggling feeling there's a reason that hangers aren't all universal...but I don't know enough to know why I couldn't just whack one of those on, and leave it there.
Any insight from those more knowledgable and wise would be much appreciated! I'm a poor student who resents spending money on public transport...haha.

Just call me the Google-meister. Jenson USA are pretty decent to deal with too.0 -
Thank you for that by the way - I'll make sure to buy a spare.
Since it's going to take a few days to deliver, though, I'm still wondering about the emergency mech hanger, and how permanent I can make it...?0 -
The Wheel Mfg emergency hanger might be OK to get you home, but you'll need to readjust your gear mech stops and indexing to get it to work half-decentlyMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

You could also try BETD ( Goldtec ) based in staffs as they have hundreds of hangers.
