Fox 36 Van R.. or?

So I have a Fox 36 Van R on the Canyon which, lets be honest, is a piece of plop.
So i've been looking around for something as a replacement as I should get a half decent price for the Fox's.
Was wondering, how does the Domain RC compare?
Not bothered about weight, I just want a fork that works. I had an old Domain 318 and it was the best fork i've ever used, and considering the Canyon is a big hitting bike it should suit well!

What do you actually don't like about the Van's? You can install a FIT RC2 damper in them..A much loved, Giant Trance X3 20100

There is just no feel to them and there is no control through the travel. As soon as you hit any sort of drop, they just blow through travel too easily... regardless how you set them up.
My mate has the same fork on a similar bike and has the same problem.
I think a RS Domain? fork with motion control IS (basically tuned for big drops and jumps) will fare much better....0 -
The domain will be better controlled, but you'll have a weight penalty.0

Still, if that is the problem, you can upgrade your damper, but it will not come cheap...A much loved, Giant Trance X3 20100

Hi i had fox 36 float R with open bath damper, 5 months ago upgraded to FIT RC2 damper different feel in the fork, more adjustment available to you and fork feels to me to be more responsive. Does not come cheap but probably cheaper than another descent set of forks.
Hope this helps

Yeah they will do the job, I have 160 Domains on my reign and they are heavy but bombproof.0

Damn... there is a cheapo fork that did pretty well in the reviews but I can't remember it's soddin name.. duraace, decathalon, donkeyeater... It began with a D but that's about it. Adjustable between 140mm and 180mm, air spring, and on offer of 300smackers from some shop. It's mega helpful I know, but if you want a cheap fork that sounds like Dancingsneakers I'll drop up the link tonight.0

No, but good going with the D hint0

SR Suntour Durolux - 8/10 from Dirt magazine, 314 quid. I'm thinking of getting a 7" freeride bike, convert the Moment to XC duties and move it's components across with a pair of these. Waiting to hear back on an Ellsworth Rogue (not that I'm a fanboi, but there's nowt better than an Ellsworth )0

I have got a Domain RC, it does struggle with fast, big hits but other than that it's awesome. I have also got a Lyrik DH with Mission Control which is lighter & better damped. Domain is bombproof though.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
