ANyway, would appreciate it if people didn't comment on spam threads as it takes us longer to delete them all.0

Its back again, this really needs sorting out!0

what he said ^0

It's good if you want Ugg boots. Sure Sheeps would love to add it his collection.0

Hopefully we have killed it - flood control is failing miserably, but banned the gits IP now so hopefully he won't be back.0

Unless it's a spambot network then it could come from anywhere.
Earlier there was spam the instant an account was registered. Could it just delay allowing posts for a short while after registration? And surely registration should use a captcha and email verification?
Though too much spam protection can be annoying. Plenty of forums that won't let you post links until you have enough posts, so then you get loads of annoying posts just so people can post a link or frustration that you have to wait so long to post one that may actually be useful.0 -
Not really a big deal, just don't read them, they're generally quite obvious.
Just a bit of work for the mods which keeps them busy while we post crud in peace.I don't do smileys.

We are supposed to have all this, I picked through the settings earlier. Don't know why it keeps happening. Luckily my ban axe is sharpe.0 -
was a bit blunt earlier."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Well done Sonic.0 -
What I don't understand is, why bother? I mean say I'm a 40 year old IT technician coming on Bike Radar to gage suitability of a Rev over a Reba. Am I really likely to get distracted by a spam thread about some fake Chinese Ugg Boots, forget about the fork question and go buy some?0

I deleted 10,000 threads this morning ;-)0

Its a numbers game which pays off, the spammer charges for his service which is why they bother, the person paying for the service actually gets enough interest to make it worth their while.0 -
Plus some lately have taken virtually the whole page.I don't do smileys.

Its getting beyond a Joke now. I was reading the Gisburn thread in routes for 5 mins and then come back and the forum is spammed again. It needs sorting. Good idea, get some sort of Email validation to make it more secure. Its becoming a daily thing now.0

Like I have just said in crudcatcher we need a email verification system, this is getting beyond a farking joke now...0
