British cycling climbs website/database?

Does anyone know the URL of the website that was devoted to the toughest cycling hills in the UK?

It wasn't related to the '100 climbs' book but it was a similar idea - map, gradient of climbs, pictures etc - but it was a more comprehensive than the book. Pretty sure it was bikeradar forum users website.

However i cant remember the name of the site (may have had sportive in the name?!), nor the posters name and my search on google isn't being very productive in finding it. So does anyone know what the hell i'm talking about or did i just imagine it all? :D

I think it was called sportive central or something like that but I can't find it today. It was (maybe) started as an alternative to cyclosport but the guy decided to concentrate on climbs - and it was (is) a good reference...or maybe it was just a dream...

    EDIT

http://urlspy.co.uk/www.sportivecentral.com - looking at the thumbnail I think this was it but it appears to no longer be live :(
  • I'm sure I know the one you are talking about, this isn't it as I recall but climbbybike.com has about 40-odd Scottish climbs
You've no won the Big Cup since 1902!

The site was started by Richie Bernard aka 'Richyboy' and he put a lot of work and enthusiasm into the database. It was very impressive. Sadly he decided to let it go so sadly it is now offline.

Hi Nick I am sure my bro has it all on his home drive. He was talking about a blog before the site shutdown and may end up putting them there. I'll ask him the next time I see him if he has and will post.

  • There's some limited UK climb info here:

    http://www.salite.ch

...and plenty of mouthwatering European climbs also!
  • If you go to Strava.com and use the explore function, there is a slider above the map that enables you to filter out the various categories of climb. Whether it ties in with the TdF classifications I don't know, but it's a start, and though it relies on people loading the segments it's getting more comprehensive. I'm adding them in my area as I try to find the hardest and get to be KOTM on a new one for a while!

It seems Richy's forum profile has been deleted, though his old posts are still in the database (RICHYBOYcp).

He and the other guys involved in sportivecentral wanted the website to be a starting point for info and links about sportives, routes etc. Richy's accounts of killer climbs made for great reading, he wrote with real enthusiasm, it's a shame they knocked it on the head.
Aspire not to have more, but to be more.
  • Omar, is this what you are looking for:
    http://www.100climbs.co.uk/
Still under construction, but at least you can click through from the map on the main page to see the climbs listed by county
