Why can't we have these over here: stealth black loveliness everywhere

Utterly beautiful.
I am presuming this is the Raleigh we all know and love from our childhood - or am I wrong? There are a few things on there that I would cut my wife's right arm off for.

Cos we is a bunch of w@nkers who are undeserving. Including your missus's right arm.
Must say the Canyon ultimate featured on the home page of this site looks almost identical to my Principia RS6 which now resides on my turbo.
Shall I invest in an ultegra Di2 groupo and liberate it from its chains? :?Tail end Charlie

Not sure what is left of Raleigh here - the US stuff seems to be quite well displaced from the European range. Not sure what overlap there is.Faster than a tent.......0 -

As far as I know, they do no more than import components from various sources and assemble them down the road from where I live in a town called Eastwood.
A real shame when you consider what they used to be.Tail end Charlie

is there a mass market bike name that does not get their stuff from china? as I understand it the massively expensive exotic frames named bianchi, pinnarello, etc are all made in china.
When it comes to buying a Mercian or a Raleigh clubman one is bound to consider how much disposable income one is willing to commit and whether one wants a machine that works or road-jewellery to impress your mates.
Raleigh seem to be doing a lot of business and it may be they could rise again with their current strategy of getting the bikes from where everyone else does.
I would like to see them getting a relationship with a bespoke frame -maker , but how many of us would buy such a thing?
I have an old raleigh, but it would not compete with a new one .
Raleigh Eclipse, , Dahon Jetstream XP, Raleigh Banana, Dawes super galaxy, Raleigh Clubman

Love the "Rush Hour" fixie myself. Something about a very simple mostly black colour scheme that really appeals (like my new winter bike based on a chinese carbon frame that i painted matt black last weekend)

Doesn't everyone? I may be wrong but I don't remember everyone else making their groupsets, etc. If so, I seem to have missed the new Trek 11 speed rear mech ......0 -

They used to manufacture the vast majority of the bike, Sturmey archer gears were made in Nottingham I think thay were part of Raleigh (Someone more knowledgeable on the history of the company could clarify one way or another) The point I was making was they company used to manufacture virtually everything on the bike, wheresa, sadly now, they are more or less just an assembely plant. Which I think is sad.Tail end Charlie
