They just peel off over the lever.More problems but still living....0

^^^this
they'll be a bit more pliant if they're warm, and it's easier on the fingers too
when refitting, pop them in some *hot* water for a few minutes, quickly wipe dry and fit before they cool down
i do it this way... peel off from the rear, curling the hood up as i go, then ease the bottom part forward into the gap behind the lever, which makes it easier to get the hood over and off the top of the shiftermy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
Yup - as above.
They are very tight so get your fingers right in there - peel off from above and down, slide on the new ones as far as you can before peeling over the top.
Remember to check which side you are putting the SRAM logo on before you start so that you don't do the whole job then look back, swear, then have to do it all over again.
If the old hoods are creamed, save half a job by cutting them off and throwing the remains into next door's garden.0 -
Cheers chaps. Very much appreciated. I was panicking that I would have to strip the lot off the bars.
And a damn good point from Yossie regarding checking which side the SRAM logo is on as I'm sure I wouldn't have been swearing at some point.0 -
btw if you've got non-black ones, a rough cloth dipped in dilute washing up liquid is good for cleaning themmy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0
