Winter tyres for Boardman Hybrid

Hi
After a bit of advice for tyres for my new Boardman Hybrid please :P
The standard 700 28c are Vittoria Zaffiros and I find that climbing hilly roads that are wet, greasy and muddy I'm losing grip when out of the saddle. I appreciate that there is very little weight over the rear wheel in this situation, but will a change of tyre to something more grippy help, or do I just put up with it?
The roads over the moors get very cruddy during the winter so any suggestions/comments will be appreciated! I don't expect to be doing much off road riding - maybe a bit on the forest tracks.
TIA

iME Zaffiros aren't the grippiest. Dropping your tyre pressure helps with grip. In terms of tyres, you could go for heavy, but bombproof Schwalbe Marathons or something a bit lighter but nearly as durable like a Conti GP4Season.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

There may be cheaper places - I've not checked - but CRC are usually pretty good.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0
