    It's actually quite re-assuring in my area. Within 10 miles of me there have been 5 cycling fatalities in 11 years and one of those involved no other vehicle (it appears to be down to them coming off on a high speed descent). Of course it is still 5 too many but I suspect people's perception would be that cycling is more dangerous than that. It would be interesting to see a map showing serious injuries though as there will be many situations where severe injury has a long term effect.

    Pretty reassurring for me too - and this is in Leeds so not exactly rural solitude. About one death on all of my cycle routes which must amount to a good hundred miles of road.
    Faster than a tent.......
