I'm looking for mudguards for a 2009 model Specialised Tricross Sport that I'm using as a road bike.
I've got it fitted with 28mm Gatorskin tyres - if I ever put larger off-road tyres on it I'll re-think the mudguards.
I'd like to equip it with a set of full mudguards but I'm not sure if there's something available that does what I want. I transport the bike by car regularly (lying in the boot with the front wheel off) so I'd need to be able to remove the front mudguard or it would prevent me lying the bike in the car. Also the Tricross has loads of clearance at the fork - I think typical road bike mudguard fittings will place the mudguard too high above the tyre. Any ideas?

Zefal Swan Road. Easy to attach/remove, works well and stays put. Lots of scope for adjustment so you should be able to get the clearance you need.

I use mine on a Kona Jake for road riding and can easily lift it slightly when I venture offroad, so that I have plenty of clearance in muddy conditions. If I'm planning on riding purely off-road then I just don't bother fitting it, getting muddy is fun :D

Thanks for that Jordan, however it's the front mudguard that's the real problem. I have a clip on pretty similar to the Zefal one already (although it's a bit bulkier) but want to fit full mudguards front and rear with the front being reasonably easy to remove to put the bike in the car with the front wheel off.

Well I went with SKS Chromoplastics mudguards in the end. Their not easily removable but I've found I can get the bike into the car without removing the front wheel if I have to. The Chromoplastics give good coverage and I'm finding the long front mudguard great for keeping my feet dry!
