I'm looking at buying a bike through the cyclescheme and as I can't get a Boardman HT Pro I've been looking at other options.

I can't seem to find a better bike for £1000 than the Cube Ltd Race...or am I missing some options???

  • There probably are, depending on what type of riding you do.
As a XC rider, who puts in a few miles, I can't find anything else out there for that price that has a comparible spec and feels as comfortable.
    2007 Felt Q720 (the ratbike)
2012 Cube Ltd SL (the hardtail XC 26er)
    2014 Lapierre Zesty TR 329 (the full-sus 29er)
  • I'm going to take a look this lunch time but it's looking like the bike for me. I was originally looking at a Cannondale Trail SL1 as I like the look of the screen geometry but the Cube just smashes it on spec.

Also is the Cube about as light as I can get for the money? What things would be worth looking at upgrading?

Tyres would be the best place to start and cheap to change. The OEM Schwalbs on them are very dated and quite heavy. The rest I'd leave until later as there aren't many weak links.

CUBE LTD race are NOT all day fun bikes...they're a full on race geometry.. lightweight, flighty, flickable and harsh to ride... don't buy one thinking it's a lovely cruising machine.

They're GREAT... but not for everyone/everything.

    Not quite right...

The Ltd range is not full on XC race geometry, the Reaction range is the XC race range for Cube bikes

The Ltd range is aimed at those riders who want a XC bike capable of being ridden all day either at a trail centre or on natural XC terrain which offers tight handling with a stiff frame giving great power transfer to the rear wheel

  • Im also looking at this as was undecided between the Ltd pro & Ltd Race (thinking race purely due too the forks it comes with) I just cant decide on colour? which one you thinking of? I sadly dont have anywhere that stocks them around here!

I also dont think is a super aggressive XC geometry, just not relaxed if that makes sense.

JC Cook Cycles aren't that far away from Leeds, only an hour along the M62/M180. Being a Cube Premier Dealer we have loads of Cubes in stock and on display.

  • Great! Do you accept cyclescheme? If so, another shop near me was going to allow me to take my £1000 voucher and put the extra £40 towards the Ltd Race, would you be able to do this? If so will use you guys!

  • cyclesense in Tadcaster stock cube.
  • I just ordered a 2011 cube ltd team from squarewheels in the highlands, for £695. If you haven't got sorted yet, it's probably worth a look at their site.

Cyclescheme is generally done at full RRP as the retailer takes a large hit with admin fees for doing cyclescheme (up to 15% depending on which scheme), so that rules out sale bikes
