Advice needed - Kona Dawg 08 Rear shock set up

W'dup homies.
Got an 08 Kona Dawg and a question to go with it...
Where the bottom of the Shock is attached to the frame of the bike, there are 2 holes (The shock is attached to one of them). I presume that the other hole is to put the shock n a different position. My question is what difference would it make to move the position of the shock?

Yes is to adjust travel and/or geometry. Holes closest to seatpost will yield more travel.0

Actually I think that is the otherway round as the holes are on the frame, not the rocker.0

Cheers for your help Supersonic, did a bit of digging on the Kona site FAQ section and found this info....
"On the bikes with 2 shock positions, the front shock mount gives a straight rate (feels the same through the travel), and the rear gives a rising rate (feels stiffer at the end of the travel).
There's no best spot, you need to try both and see which you like best."0
