Just put my postcode in and it appears that cycling is the safest form of transport around here
No, hold on a minute, if it was based on the percentage of road usage, cycling would probably top the list by a good margin0 -
Not bad but i know of at least 5 accidents where cyclists have been injured or killed in my area that are not on the map. These made the news so i dont know where the website get their information from.Boardman Team 09 HT

I looked at the time-laps videos at:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-15975724
It plots each incident over the reporting period by location in the hour in which it occurred.
However, looking at the maps for Soctland and the SW in particular it's surprising how many incidents seem to have occurred at sea......

I'm guessing that the reporting of incidents must be pretty sketchy anyway. Derby for instance seems like a black hole where nothing has happened (I know, what's new ). It could just be my PC playing up though.
Looked at the Cat and Fiddle...officially one of the UKs most dangerous roads....hence the average speed cameras etc etc.
There don't appear to have been that many more on that road than on a similar stretch of the A6 for example. Also all the accidents on the Cat and Fiddle are reported as 'incident' with no details as to the vehicles (mostly motorbikes I would guess) or people involved. I don't know whether that's down to different police forces reporting differently or even if any of the data comes from the police.
If the figures are to be believed then I am relieved to see that there have been no (reported) cyclist related incidents on the routes I take around here.Mike B
